Hi Linda,

Thanks for all your help on this wonderful sight. I am finishing up applications for fall '06. What do you think my chances look like for the schools listed below? I have a decent GMAT and good work exp but my undergrad GPA is lacking.

Age - 27
GMAT 670 (45Q 37V)
Experience 50+ months - Vice President, Equity Sales
2 Promotions and developed a large producing territory for the firm from the ground up.
GPA - 2.75 BBA (Finance)
Worked and played sport in college (+ summer abroad)
Very active in sports, some volunteer work (political volunteer, boys club volunteer, and little league baseball coach).
Rec's from former supervisor and current colleague.

I know I am pursuing this a bit late in the game but hopefully one will want me...I am willing to travel wherever if an interview request presents itself.

Schools applying to:
UVA, UNC, UT, SMU, Rice, Vandy

I'll be answering for Linda. You didn't mention your post-MBA goals, which is a crucial element in a school's evaluation of whether you fit their program (see this Accepted.com tip on goals: https://www.accepted.com/newsletter/2004 ... aspx#essay).

But given the numbers and data you provided I think UVA, UNC, and Texas will be moderate long shots, but you should be optimistic that one of the remaining three schools will come through for you.

I have a very clear vision of what I want to do, that is why I am reluctant to wait until '07. I want the MBA in order to become an equity analyst for a mutual fund. 7-10 years out I would like to become a portfolio manager at a mutual fund or similar investment management firm.
