Hello,
I have recently considered getting an MBA in order to make a career change. I will be finishing up my Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering this summer and would like to get an MBA to improve my chances of getting a position in equity research or possibly a job in a quantitative field in finance.
I have an undergrad gpa of 3.51/4.0 and a graduate gpa of 3.7/4.0. I have some extra curriculars including volunteering at a hospital, as a tutor for inner city kids and volunteering at a charity that provides food for under developed countries.
I am a member of a number of engineering societities and organizations.
With respect to MBA programs I am limited (due to family) to schools in the New York area, i.e. NYU, Columbia and Yale.
My main question is, what GMAT score would I need to be competitive at these schools? Also, is there anything else I can do to strengthen my applications? Also, I have limited work experience outside of academic work during my graduate studies, how will this affect me?
Thank you advance for your help,
M.
