Hello Linda,
First, my profile:
Age:32 single, Male
Experience: A decade of work experience (8.5 in finance (capital markets), 1.5 in IT) Have progressed and worked for the same company for the last 8 years in Europe and North America.
Education: Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) Average 70%, CFA
Languages: 3 + learning 1 more now
GMAT: 670 (42Q, 39V), taken in December just once.
Reasons for wanting to do an MBA now: Looking for a career switch. If I stay in finance I want to get into IB, Venture Capital, Private Equity, all fields that require this degree. If I want to go into industry it will be useful. If I want to start my own business it will also be useful. Although my ultimate goal is the entrepreneurial path, I may want to pursue one of the two other paths first.
I am looking for a one year degree at INSEAD or Oxford starting September 2006. I want to apply to both in Round 3, February 1st and March 24 respectively.
I have asked, by e-mail, two previous senior supervisors for an LOR and have not received a response yet. I had previously been chasing, by phone and e-mail, an INSEAD alumnus. I tried to ask live but with no success so I resorted to asking by e-mail two other people who should accept. I don't know what to do, there are other people I could ask. I know e-mail is not ideal, it's just that I am travelling and it is the more simple method at this stage.
My undergrad is not stellar, that may be due in part because I was quite involved in extracurricular activities and varsity teams.
At this late stage, I have 3 questions:
1) What are my chances at these two schools with my current profile? If I apply in Round 3?
2) What should I do about my LOR's, should I wait? Call them? Ask somebody else? The Feb. 1 deadline is my greatest concern.
Your help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.
Seeking guidance,
