Ivy League School Electrical Engineering GPA: 3.1
GMAT SCORE: 650
US Citizen

2 Years of Marketing experience at Intel in Marketing Leadership Program
3 Years of Experience in Product Marketing at 8 person Startup

So what are my chances given the above qualifications? The startup has done well for itself and I can spin my diverse marketing management experiences at different companies.

However, I am an Indian male which I think puts me at a disadvantage. However, I do have considerable marketing/sales/operations experience compared to most of my counterparts.

I could take the test again and try to bump it up by another 30 pts. Not sure though...
Schools: Michigan, Fuqua, Kellogg, Wharton, Tuck, Harvard

Any constructive feed is appreciated. thanks, ab

Antmavel gave you good advice. Thanks Antmavel!

Sorry. But given your anemic GPA and the fact that you are coming from an intensely competitive group, you really need to prepare for and do well on the GMAT if you want to have a chance at these schools. I see only upside to retaking the GMAT, if you are serious about these schools.

If you don't want to retake the test, then you have to look at lower ranked schools.

You can take the GMAT a maximum of 5 times in a twelve-month period.

Good luck!

Hi,

The previous posts have covered the main issues so there is little to add . . .

1) There is little downside to retaking the exam since many of the elite take the highest score

2) Nominal GPA has limited utility- the slope of the GPA and the "bad" courses are often more important than the raw average.

3) It is unclear whether you are seeking entrance to an elite school in terms of general rep or a domain specific "top 10" school. Thus, attending a "lower ranked" school with high standing in marketing might be preferable to attending some elite general reputation schools.
