Need advice on interview prep.

Question

Hi,

I am currently preparing for interviews. I would like to know the opinion of experts on one thing. As a Marketing and Sales Manager, I have managed 200-person Marketing and Sales division. I wonder whether I can consider the division as a team in answering questions related to my team work experience. Some people suggested me that managing a division is related to leadership, not to team experience.

I would agree. If you have 200 direct reports, the majority of your work activities here point to your leadership capabilities. Skillets that fall under the "teamwork" category typically require a smaller group with a specific problem the team is solving. Hope this information helps. Hi again Critical Square. I would like to know one thing. From your own experience working with MIT applicants, do you think MIT likes when applicants reach out to them with any updates even after application? I have a new development which I would to inform my interviewer from MIT. Do you think it will be viewed positively?

That's a great question. If you have a meaningful, substantial update, it may be worth sending it along. Your interviewer would have likely submitted his/her recommendation by then, so the letter should probably be focused to the admissions committee.
