How to approach questions if I am from non math background... I understand concept easily but it’s hard to solve questions what I can do for this?

D is a 3 digit number such that ratio of number to the sum of it’s digits is least. What is the difference between the digit at hundred’s place and the digit at unit’s place? A. 0 B. 7 C. 8 D. 9 E. 2

Is it C. 8? As units digit should be maximized and 100th place minimized

To ensure that the denominator is the max it can be while also keeping the numerator to the min value (for ratio to be least), we need to ensure that the units place has the highest single digit integer i.e. 9 and the 100th place the lowest i.e. 1, expressed as a fraction this becomes: (1*100+x*10+9)/(1+x+9)
