Hi everyone. Please help me in a solution.

One product price is increased by 30% then discounted 40% Then again increased by one third of the discounted price. What will be the final increased or discreased price of the product?

Initial price: x
x * (1+0.3) = x* 1.3 => 1.3x (increased by 30%)
1.3x * (1-0.4) = 1.3 * 0.6 => 0.78x (then discounted 40%)
0.78x * (1 + 1/3) = 0.78x * 4/3 = 1.04x (increased by one third of the discounted price)
Final price: 1.04x (a 4% increase)

Hi everyone. i need help understanding how to solve this problem
A milkman has some quantity of milk with him. He sells 20% of the milk and replaces it water. He realized that the mixture is too dilute and hence, he adds 20L of pure milk to the mixture. He then again sells 40% of the mixture and replaces it water. He adds 48L of pure milk to the mixture. If he now has 300L of pure milk with him then what is the quantity of the milk with which he started?

also what would you rate this question in terms of difficulty ?

Starting quantity = x

After selling and adding water,
total volume = x
Qtt of Milk in mixture = 0.8x

After adding milk,
Total volume = x + 20
Qtt of Milk in mixture = 0.8x + 20

After selling a second time,
Total volume = 0.6(x + 20)
Qtt of milk in mix = 0.6(0.8x + 20)

After adding 48 l milk,
Qtt of milk = 0.6(0.8x + 20) + 48
Given = 300

Solving 0.6(0.8x + 20) + 48 = 300
0.48x + 12 + 48 = 300
0.48x + 60 = 300
0.48x = 240
x = 240/0.48 = 500

Difficulty level = Moderate

poojaarora1818, there is always fear of unknown and it is so easy to come under stress. As the above member too has mentioned practice is the key. Take more mocks under timed conditions, and check whether you feel lost in all questions or it is in some certain topics, while in other topics that you are comfortable with you are at ease. If the latter is the case, then you require to work upon questions on those topics more than concentrating on mocks.
