The only suggestion I have is that you take your TOEFL first - it is easier and gives you a preview of the test center environment. I scheduled my TOEFL 2 days before the GMAT (Saturday and then GMAT on Monday). Worked out well :)

Hi.

I'm also new in the land of TOEFL and GMAT. I've seen that most people recommend to first finish GMAt and then worry with TOEFT.

BB added a new idea by saying, the two at the same time.

So, by studying for GMAT I am also preparing for TOEFL or no such luck?

Thanks for the help!

My plan may not work so well anymore, now that TOEFL format has changed.
It used to include grammar, reading, and some vocabulary words, which is no longer the case. So, I think that's not good advice - scratch that idea. I still do think it is good to get a preview of the test center, however.

Hi y'all,

I am completely new to TOEFL and GMAT and just started to build my study plan for these 2 tests. This might be a very silly question for most of you, but do you think it is best to work on the GMAT first or should I start with TOEFL. I was thinking to go first with TOEFL since it could give me a good start point on the verbal section for GMAT.

What do you all suggest?

thanks,
INE

To be honest, about 2 weeks prep for TOEFL should be enough. So my suggestion is start ur prep for the GMAT. When ur comfortable with the maths and verbal concepts and able to solve a few of the tricky GMAT questions, take a break. Prepare and appear for the TOEFL. and then continue with ur gmat prep. this has a two way advantage as i see it....

1. u'll be familiar with the common mistakes in english while preparing for GMAT and hence would probably ( ) not be making those mistakes when u speak or write in TOEFL.

2. taking a short break will help take ur mind off from the daily chores of solving those monsters in maths and boost ur confidence levels once you find that even after 2 weeks u still remember those formulas and shortcuts!

All the best!
