Hello!
I've just finally made up my mind that going forward, an MBA is what I wanna do to progress forward. I'm based in Canada As of now, I don't really have a particular school in mind and am researching various schools.
I've decided to start preparing and ultimately appear for my GMAT test as I've time on my hands right now and should best utilize it towards my prep. I think I am mostly a book learner and would probably end up getting something like Veritas or Kaplan. The gmatpill is an option in the back of my mind too.
Since I'm planning to get a test prep course like the veritas, I just wanted to ask a (perhaps lame) question.
The prep course books are kinda pricey and I see previous years' versions going for much cheaper. So I just wanted to ask you guys here whether I really need the latest version for all my books or I could do with the older versions too (such as for the prep course and the OG)?
I'll have more questions for sure as I delve deeper in my prep and just wanted to say the wealth of information on this forum is awesome!

So you wish to self-study using books? I'd recommend the MGMAT series. They are widely regarded as a bit better than Veritas' strategy series and they are significantly better than Kaplan's materials.
The 5th edition MGMAT series is $100 used on Amazon ($140 new), the 4th edition is $35 used. I would recommend getting the new set, as having the most up to date and refined strategy guides is worth the small difference in cost. And the used books tend to have the codes already tapped for the question banks and those can be nice practice tools.
You can 100% buy used versions of the Official Guide books, but make sure you get the 13th edition of the big one - it is the newest and most representative of the official test.

Thanks Thomas. Really appreciate it. I've been looking at the MGMATs and they look real good. I'm stacking them against veritas but MGMAT seems to be the way to go.
Yes, I've decided to self study as I believe that's how I learn best or in a classroom setting and then studying myself. I'm actually divided between GMATPill or getting prep course books like MGMAT to self study, kinda having a hard time deciding which would cater better to my learning process and ensure a good score. Any suggestions guys?
