Hey arorasa, I am pretty much in the same boat. I was waitlisted on June 30, and I haven't heard anything from the admissions committee. Of course, I have chosen not to send them anything to respond to.
On page 52 of this thread, you see that yiminsun was waitlisted on June 12, and then accepted on August 13. arorasa, you were waitlisted on June 24, and you haven't been dinged yet. I was waitlisted on June 30 and haven't been dinged yet.
Meanwhile, a number of people said they were waitlisted just before the notification deadline of August 1. Then this week, we see that many of them were dinged.
How much do we know about how the admissions committee manages the waitlist? Do we know if there is a tiered system in place, where some waitlisters are in a better position on the list than others? Or is the whole list re-evaluated together? My hypothesis is that there is tiered system in place, and the waitlisters who get on the list earlier are in a more favorable tier than those who are waitlisted just before the notification deadline.
If this is correct, it might help future waitlisters get a better idea of where they stand as of August 1. Either they were waitlisted in June, and they have a better chance, or they were waitlisted on July 31 or August 1, and they have a worse chance.
Does anybody know anything supports or refutes this idea?
