Hi bb,

This was my 2nd attempt of the Official Mock - 2. There weren't any repeat questions, I didn't reset the question bank either.

Unfortunately the scoring system has changed quite a bit since the last test format.

Do you have some data?

Also, some data on number of errors made by people scoring in the range 675 - 695 in the last 2-3 weeks would be really insightful.

I don’t think score seasonal like the flu 🤒 unfortunately. So knowing mistakes in the last 2-3 weeks won’t have a lot of value. Also, it’s Probably not going to be very profitable because traditionally and I think still, there’s no strong correlation between the number of mistakes and the score.

You have to look at the difficulty of all the questions in your test and the difficulty of the mistakes you have made. You can check the difficulty of questions based on GMAT Club’s and build a table and perhaps do that for both tests to see the difference.

I’ve done that about 20 times... it is faster than you may think.

Quite likely, you may have run out of difficult questions by the time you took the second test again. Leaving Uber with the Vika question bank but this is only speculation and a theory....

Yeah, I think this might be the case. Especially if Mocks 1 and 2 use the questions from the same bank of questions. I got a V88 in Mock-1 2nd attempt with 2 errors, might've used up most of the difficult questions.

I still think that they should be a bit more forgiving of making errors of easier questions :-p

Consider checking out the gmatclub threads of those questions. You could also share the thread links here for people to potentially give a sense how difficult GMAC may have classified them.

Questions that I got wrong on Verbal:

1. (5th question on the mock) https://gmatclub.com/forum/manufacturin ... l#p3438759
(2nd Question in this RC) --> 46% accuracy in gmatclub.

2. (23rd question on the mock) https://gmatclub.com/forum/in-masonvill ... l#p3410103 --> 72% accuracy. This one was relatively much easy, but I ran out of time.

Hi,

I got a 675 in my Official Mock yesterday, with the following split:

Q 87 - 1 Mistake (No complaints here)
V 83 - 2 Mistakes (Question 5 and Question 23; No edits)
DI 81 - 3 Mistakes (Questions 8, 10 and 19; 20th question was edited from Wrong to Right)

I wanted to understand why the algorithm was so brutal with Verbal and DI! I have in the past made like 6 errors in verbal for a V84, and like 7 errors in DI for a DI83! I tried looking up the stats of the wrong ones in GMAT Club, and almost all of them are genuinely hard!

I would really like some insight here. What do you think could have happened?

And, provided something like this happens in the actual exam, is it possible to ask for an explanation from GMAC?

So, although you can always reach out to the folks at GMAC, unfortunately, they are not likely to provide you with more information regarding your score.

Tests 2/4/6 always had this problem, and your experience makes me think that maybe that's still the case. 675 is still a great score though. All the best.
