I am a 23 y/o American born Indian looking to enroll in b-school for fall 2008. I am gathering all the information from the board on how to prep for the GMAT and am planning on taking the test in the April/May timeframe. I am targetting a 710+ score on the GMAT and won't give up until I reach it.
My profile is:
Purdue University
- BS Mechanical Engineering 3.46/4.00
- Minor in Economics (3.75 / 4.00)
Work Experience
- 18months at a large Tech/Communications company
- Supply Chain Logistics, procurement, and quality experience. I am responsible for supplier performance (quality, delivery performance, supplier relations, etc.).
- Develope new processes and technologies for "Big Bet" programs
- 6 trips to Asia in the past 18mos to manage suppliers onsite. I do not have direct management experience, but my role basically manages our suppliers.
- I will have a little over 3 years of work experience by fall '08 (I also have 6mos of internship experience with GM)
Extra-curricular
- I have been active with my religious center setting up classes to train adults and children basic computer skills
- Member and lead for Formula SAE team in college
- Pi Tau Sigma member (National mechanical engineering societty), I was a chair in college
- I am looking to start more volunteer work with soon, its hard to become active with all of the trips to Asia.
- I am also a big car fanatic and like to work on and race cars as a hobby.
- What do you believe I would need to do in order to have a realistic shot at an ultra-elite or elite school?
- Will my age and lack of work experience be a show stopper?
- Will I be lumped into the International Indian applicant group, and how can I avoid getting lumped into that group? (Y'all are way too smart

)
My dream schools would be Kellog or Chicago GSB. I'll also be looking at Michigan, Indiana, UT-Austin, & Virginia. I will only be applying to full time programs.
Thanks,
Amir
