i agree with the answer but i just wanted to know why B is wrong. it sounds grammatically correct. "made a comparison between a and b" sounds right to me althought it it is kinda wordy so is that the problem??

Indeed, B is not grammatically flawed but is definitely wordier. D is more concised and stands as best

i agree with the answer but i just wanted to know why B is wrong. it sounds grammatically correct. "made a comparison between a and b" sounds right to me althought it it is kinda wordy so is that the problem??

Here (B) is wrong because it alters the very meaning of sentence.
The author is trying to relate two different objects, while "comparison between x and y" means comparing similar objects. So as per (B) "Federal Reserve" and "Automobile Racing" belongs to same category. While what author is trying to relate "Federal Reserve" AS "an automobile....".

Correct me if I am wrong!
