Thank you for your opinion. Appreciate your feedback. Its just that according to the research I did the average score of Indian candidates is higher that the school average. But, i do take your point about working harder on essays and my profile, which may compensate for any other shortcomings.

Hi,

I gave my GMAT (1st attempt) on 11th july and got my results today. Total score of 740 with Q49 and V41.

While taking the test initially there were some problems with the webcam due to which i had to login multiple times. This was really flustering which made me nervous and blank in the quant section initially. I was consistently scoring Q50 in practice tests, but got Q49 in the actual exam. Even during the exam,my instructor kept sending me messages to look up on the screen even when i was using the physical whiteboard. Therefore, i believe the online exam reduced my score by 10-20 points due to the disruptions caused by the instructor.

I have already done my MBA from IIFT Delhi and currently working(since 2.5 years) with a private sector bank in India. I was looking at programs like Financial engineering and Masters in Finance/Risk Management in the U.S,Canada and Europe. Do you guys think that i should retake the exam to improve my score for targeting the top schools?

This is pretty much great score. I personally do not see any reason to retake GMAT at this score. It's your essay which should stand you out now.

Can you please share your study plan especially for verbal?

If I would take 740, i would only focus on my admission. No need to retake. 740 is enough for Top 10 even though you are from over represented group. Good luck. Hope you would get into what you wish for.

Wish i would take 740 too..

Anurag997 , they track it through video feed.

thecoronafever , Thanks for your feedback. I completed OG and the Verbal OG and also the CR Bible. Other than that I gave a lot of practice tests. 15 tests of EG and 6 Unofficial GMAT tests. Prepared fro 2.5-3 months for the test.

ataman: thanks a lot for your feedback. I am sure you will get it too.

AK1307 : Quant is pretty exhaustive but Verbal is not the best. But, considering the quantity of tests they offer in that price band, i found it good. The mock scores are a good indicator of your Gmat score as well.

ScottTargetTestPrep I haven’t yet. Anyways I cannot take a retest as of now since I gave the online Gmat. Still researching if I can get a good school with this score.

Hi khanna93,

First off, a 740/Q49 is an outstanding Score, so you can comfortably apply to any Business Schools that interest you. As such, a retest is almost certainly NOT necessary. Since you already have an MBA, you will likely need to 'market yourself' in a different way to each of the Schools that you plan to apply to, so you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:
