I am currently applying to school through my Company's EMBA program. However, it is very selective, so I would like to have a backup plan. I am looking into online MBA programs due to my heavy work schedule. I attended Penn St as an undergrad. They offer an online MBA program. This program is very affordable ($23k/ yr) and is completed within 2 yrs. The degree is the same degree as a full-time MBA from the school. I have 2 questions- 1) How do recruiters view an online MBA vs. a full or part time MBA? 2) How do recruiters view people who obtain MBAs from schools in which they obtain their undergrad degree?

Regarding your first question -- Recruiters probably discount online MBAs, for a few of reasons 1) For the most part the admissions process isn't as rigorous as EMBAs, Full-time or Part-time 2) Online MBAs lack the student interaction and therefore the building of teamwork skills that recruiters seek and 3) Online MBA programs are still seen as less rigorous programs -- perhaps this will change in the future.
Regarding your second question -- This isn't a big deal at all. They might ask why you returned to your undergrad school, but as long as you have a decent answer you're fine. There are several students who do their MBA at their undergrad institution and it doesn't effect their recruitment.
