Ha ha ha, don't worry mate - you're already counted in! I just cannot imagine UK gmatclub meeting without you. You have some kind of legendary status in UK b-school applying process.

I'd love to add you guys to the Trusted group, however this is something that global mods can't do. i.e we can't change people's group settings. only Site Admins can do that.

We are only allowed to moderate posts.

I'd suggest send a PM to Praetorian. He normally looks at granting people access to this form. Prashok, perhaps you can advise the guys on what you did to get access and how long it took.

Yeah, that would be a good idea -- I ran searches on each of my applications 5-10 times just to make sure. ;) My friend just made that mistake on his Kellogg application, though -- so it still happens!

though full ride is a a big temptation(I still have no clue how will i shell out GBP 45k) for Said), but the inclination is towards Said. Mose so since I am interested in a career in Europe than US.

Besides pls share your choice of colleges

Turned in my oxford app a few minutes back. Wasnt too sure of the second essay to be honest. My recent event / development is like 10 - 15 years ago.. should be interesting to see how this one turns out. Lets see how this goes.

Unfortunately, I am not sure I will be able to show a real interest in Oxford through my app as there were no events in my city and I didnt make the trip to visit from Chicago. So other than the usual stuff in the essay about great course/faculty/alumni nothing really to personalize it.

I wrote about a development that has increased the level of a particular EC that I have. I must admit, it was a hard essay due to the topic and the word limit. In the end I finished it at 1536 words.

I wrote about an event (not quite recent). But it often happens that we begin to seriously think about something only after several years have passed, so I guess it was OK - I was admitted, after all!

Hi Devil. You must have already received the new email from Oxford by now. Note that the text implies that you in fact can change your initial preference (at least, that's how I interpreted "to get an idea... what college is right for me"). So I guess we'll clear our doubts after visiting this Intranet. I hope, at least :)

EDITED LATER:
For some reason I cannot login to the SBS Intranet: getting 'Access Denied'... Will try again later :? Perhaps those who succeeded could give me some advice?

It worked for me! And I did nothing - just re-opened the link. So I guess we just tried too early.
Deposit deadline is 11 Feb... And it's 4560 GBP... Not good at all :?

Whaaaaat??? GBP 4.560??!!?? It is insane, and I felt pretty bad with GBP 3.300 deposit required by Cambridge! Now I see this as a pocket money compared to Oxford.

I don't know what is going on with UK schools - I think this behavior clearly show their lack of slf-confidence. They are in the constant fear of American schools, almost feeling like a little brother. They beleive to be able to prevent someone from going to US with such a ridiculously high deposit, but nothing will stop someone if that was his/her dream and Oxbridge just a safety.

There are much better ways to secure better rankings, more confidence and, in the end of the line, recpect.

What can we do? Life is a harsh mistress, Pathfinder... You at least were lucky to get some money from Cam. As to me, at present I don't know where to get such a sum, with all these things happening in my home country.

But I think such large deposits are not common for all UK schools. LBS has two deposits, but not that large (correct me if I'm wrong), and other schools, such as Cranfield, have very reasonable deposits. I guess this measure has to do something with the college admission process at Oxbridge, not with their fear of American schools. Although, there are some applicants for whom such sums are indeed pocket money... they could pay trice as much and after that still go somewhere else... Unfortunately, not me :(
