Hi,
I have a question about the Said MBA program, and was wondering if anyone could help me out with it.
On the SBS web site, it mentions the option to do a summer internship and graduate after 15 months. I realize that the extra 3 months will be spent fulfilling the requirement usually done during the summer (take two additional electives, the consulting project, or a thesis). But will there be a lot of elective courses offered in the last 3 months (which will basically be the michealmas term for the incoming class)? Or, if you decide to do a consulting project, which is usually done in a group of 4 or 5, how will you be able to complete it with the majority of the class already graduated? Or is a thesis the only option for people who opt to do a summer internship? I am a career changer, and obviously a bit nervous about doing a one-year MBA program (although I really like Said) instead of a two-year one. But the summer internship option sounds great to me.

Unfortunately, I can provide you only with my own understanding of this situation. It is not very clear from the information on site, but it seems that while it is possible to graduate by either 2 electives or Consulting Project or Thesis, if you choose summer internship, not all combinations will be possible. I’m certain that internship+thesis is possible, and that, most probably, internship+project is possible – still, it’s better to confirm the latter with the adcom. But internship+electives seems not to be an option.
This is the quote from programme specification that inclined me to form this understanding:
So it seems you cannot take the electives during the Michaelmas term.
Still, I admit that I also don’t have a clear perspective of this internship scheme and so will be grateful for an explanation coming from somebody better informed.
EDITED LATER: I've asked this question on Intranet forums - and it seems that any combination is possible: Int.+ SCP, Int. + Thesis, Int. + Electives. But, in the latter case, the electives should be taken prior to internship, early in July.

Hello there
I submitted my R3 Oxford application yesterday. First business school application in my life. First time, I wrote essays or anything on serious note
after my high school exams. To be honest, reviewing them again and again over two weeks was a tough job.
I salute to all active members (such as buffdaddy and greenoak) on the forum, who always try to keep the topic alive by helping others like me.
After 12 weeks on GMAT and 3 weeks of hectic evenings and weekends on Oxford R3 application, I really feel tired and dnt have enough determination to start on Cambridge R4 application from scratch, particularly considering my chances(Indian, IT/Telecom, 9 yrs exp in UK, Ireland, and India).
I dnt know why I am writing this post, maybe I just want to share my thoughts.

Thanks for your kind words and congrats with your conquering Oxford app (and especially Essay No 2 )! Perhaps you won’t need any more apps to get your admit. And, honestly, I don’t know what to say about R4 for Cambridge: your demographics is working against you here, but they have a really interesting selection criteria and so may invite you if they like your file even instead of a person who may seem much more accomplished applicant to an outsider. But you need to make a decision fast: their deadline is only ten days away.

) ... Basically, you should let them understand what you did at your corresponding job. Sometimes this just mirrors the official job title, but I guess they included this field for the situations when the job title is too generic.
