Hello boeinz, not yet.. worried about financing.. exploring about scholarships and bank loans.. I was attracted to both schools for different reasons when I started the process.. I guess, its a happy place to be in.

Hi Humblewinner,

need your advise. On the career essay of SBS, how concrete we need to be interms of post mba goals and plan for first five years. I am planning to start up my company , so have may be around 100 words to talk about what i wanted to do with this company and where i see my company in 5 years. Not able to chart a detailed game plan for 200 or 300 words

any advise

Hello ISBtarget,

The first question covers a lot of ground. You need to speak about why you chose your current job (some details about what you are doing), how you see your career growing over 5 years, how an mba assist you (including details of why oxford, though the question specifically doesnt ask that)

It is a 1000 word question, so you have a lot of space to address these in detail. It is important to speak about the future more than the past - which includes why oxford and why mba and your goals. As far as the five year plan goes, it will be easier if you can breakdown to short term (immediately after mba), long term (over 5 years) and longer term career vision. Again this will be digressing from the question, but you have the margin here.. As far as your enterpreneurial venture goes, the more specific you are the better it is, it shows that you have put a great deal of thought. The adcom however will understand that you don't have a business plan yet (why would you need an MBA in that case!).. So break it down as well and tie it with your short term and long term visions..

Hope that helps. Good luck!

I hate asking too many questions without doing research but I really thought I would start here since there are so many people passionate about Said here.

1. Quick questions - so do you think there is time for an international applicant to apply for Said in R3? I know my chances are much lower and all that but in terms of the logistics - financing, visa etc ....will there be time to do all that?

2. And also, any thoughts about Oxford for general management? I know it's excellent for social entrepreneurship and also for consulting...

Thanks in advance

Great advise thank you.

I have spent 400 words on my current job and achievements, i think i need to shorten this. I have also spent 200 words to talk about why entrepreneurship and how this ambition started in my college...need to cut this as well.

thanks for your advise...wonderful

I'm currently battling with essay 2 of the SBS application. I tried to put it off for a while and now I think I might be able to come up with something decent. Let's hope it's decent enough for an interview. I hope to submit the application in the beginning of the week, because I still have two scholarship application deadlines coming up mid-month.

Hi All,

Really in need of some urgent help here..I am planning to apply for the R2 Oxford intake.. the only issue which I am facing now is related to the academic transcripts. A friend of mine who had applied earlier said that the mark sheets for my university degreee contain all the information required by the adcom and would suffice as an academic transcript. Some others have told me that I would need a separate academic transcripts which would have to be obtained from the University. This process would take around 20 days which would mean that I would miss out on the R2 deadline (15th Jan) for application. Request you all to throw some light on this issue.. Should I call up the administration department of Oxford?

Thanks
Arjun

^why don't just just ask admission office - you'll be sure to get correct information. :)

I submitted my application for Saïd R2. This was the last application for me, and it feels weird not to have to stress about applications anymore. Now I just need to work on a couple of scholarship applications.

Please count me in for R2.
Applying to LBS and to Oxford SBS (seems that middle east Sheikhs have big influence on both the schools, specially the latter as after being confused for a while on what Said means, found out that it is the name of a middle east businessman, a big benefactor. I like Saïd... double dot on top of i)

Thanks for this useful post and Many Congratulations to R1 admits!!
...hope to join your elite league!

Working on the essays now. Oxford essays have given lot of room to spread wings, but so much of bandwidth also makes it easy to lose focus and "crispiness"!

Please address these few questions of mine when you get a chance:
- Is there anyone from Japan in the forum applying this year? Any alumni?
- I heard that for oxford, personal interview and traveling to the school to meet students and faculty is recommended? Also that faculty interview is a must? Any admits who did telephonic interviews or interviewed with alumni?

Humblewinner and Oxford admits

My recommender is asking for help on what to write as weakness. He actually shown me something where he said it was a weakness but I have improved on his feedback. Is this ok.
