also looks like the selectivity is tough! close to 50% of members in 2009 who got invite for interviews were dinged!
Seriously? Yikes.

Now it's just waiting for me... I just emailed JBS to remind them of my existence, as i was waitlisted in R2. They're still my number one.

annae, im rooting for you!

1) Where can i find CV templates for B schools - I was able to figure out some templates in the forum. please suggest if anyone has got any more information
2) I have a gap of one year in my education.Where do i justify this in the oxford application. ISB application had a place holder for this in the online application itself. could you please suggest

I just used my professional CV (reduced it to keep highlights and make it 1 page <- this was a requirement in LBS)
Also, the LBS application mentioned that if there is any gap you would like to explain, use the second page of CV to do that. Maybe you can do the same for SBS application also... mail their contact and confirm.

Also unlike LBS, in Oxford there isn't any free text area where I can supplement with relevant information (either in the essays or in the previous education section)... so i guess we have to accommodate as in the essays and CV.

'think that the current students must be busy in networking and placement events...
hope to get some inputs from them on this and the previous question on interviews... also looks like the selectivity is tough! close to 50% of members in 2009 who got invite for interviews were dinged!
Thanks a lot for your input. Another question though

After completing the initial draft of my CV, i felt that lot of information given through my essay is repeating in the CV as well. Though its obvious doesnt it gives the reviewer a feel that i am repeating info and have less acheivements to write about

I have a curious and maybe a bit stupid question. What's with the term "Oxbridge"? I thought Oxford and Cambridge are two different schools with two different application processes. Why are they grouped together?

OXford + camBRIDGE...

maybe most applicants apply simultaneously to both schools?

It's a general term used for the two universities, as they historically are the undisputed top two educational institutions in the UK.

Hi All,

I am in dilemma between the following two options for my Oxford application.

1. Apply before R2 deadline 15th Jan 2010. I can manage to complete the essays before the dealine but I can improve them and make the application better I waited for R3.

2. Miss R2 deadline and apply in R3 before 02 April 2010. That way I will much more time to do better essays and overall a more robust application.

I have heard that it always beneficial to apply early. It is worth waiting for R3 to put forth a better application ? Do they take many people in the last round ?
I have 720 in GMAT.

Any ideas, opinions, suggestions will be most welcome.

Cheers,

Rav

Hello,

The oxford application has two upload buttons for transcripts for undergraduate degree and one upload button for graduate degree.

I have 8 transcripts for my undergraduate degree (for 8 semesters) and I am not able to upload beyond 2 transcripts. Using the first two buttons after uploading 2 transcripts simply replaces the existing transcript. How can i upload more than two ? Is anyelse facing the same problem ?

Thank you

Hi Humble winner

How did you manage to upload the documents. I am facing the same issue, if i compress in paint i am getting a bad image quality and not sure if it will be readable

also do we need to upload our degree certificate. they are asking only for transcripts

Hi

Since SBS has not mentioned any page limit, can we go about 1.5 to 2 pages of CV. is this advisable

I guess that depends very much on your CV. My standard CV is two pages: basic info, education, and work experience on page 1, publications, conference presentations, positions of trust, and personal interests on page 2. No way I could fit all relevant info on one page.

Yohooo, got the application submitted in time! must have done at least 10-15 self-reviews for the essays!
A complete brain-jamm in the end, luckily a friend agreed to proof read and pointed out some mistakes I would have easily overlooked....

Now the excruciating wait!!

In the roles/responsibilities etc. I did not put more than 2-4 lines (other than the current job and hobbies, even that must have been much less than 5000...).
Apart from essays, all other places were short, hope the ad-com gives some points for being brief and lucid :)

If you look at the print-ready PDF which is the one the adcom gets in their hands, you will notice there's no way all those characters would ever fit there, so better keep it shorter. I remember I had to edit my text to fit into the boxes.

and good luck to all R2 submitters. May the Favor of Adcom be with us.

JBS changed the application section of their website. Now there's added information about the application process, as well as a new interview date for R3: 12 March. Seems like they crammed two days in one and had to push it forward with at least one week (previous dates Feb 26th and March 1st or 8th).

I guess now we can expect news not earlier than beginning of February.

maybe JBS does not have many vacancies left and they might have received many more applications in Round 3... doesnt look good...

I submitted my applications for Oxford R2 yesterday and Cambridge R3 two weeks ago. The PDF version is a preview and is known to have problems. In my case, the passages that I provided for the work experience and hobbies were truncated. The PDF version also reported that one of my uploads was corrupt.
Oxford's adcom team confirmed that this is a problem specific to the PDF version and that the version that they receive would be complete.
So, if you have 5000/7900 characters to write, do go ahead. The adcom should see it all.
