I just got offered a place at a Victorian girls' school in Cambridge. 8-) It was the only old school left with seats for MBA students. I plan to take it and look forward to a very interesting year.

I got into both Oxford and Judge, and I think I am going to Said, pending LBS' decision tomorrow.

That's cool, I didn't know Cambridge has an all women's college. I'm assuming that's what it is from the name...I could be wrong. :P

Hey oxford admits from round 2, has anyone received his/her college admissions and accomodations yet? I still haven't heard back from my second choice college....seems like a really long time. My paperwork had been submitted on april 1st.
My file is at my 1st choice since April 22th and no reply yet. :( When was your file sent to your second choice?
Lot of admits received admission and some even accommodation until now.

I spoke too soon, received a letter from the royal mail last night with my acceptance to Exeter College w/ accommodations. yay!

I received notice from my first choice only 15 days after I officially submitted my paperwork. But I think the college may have already been at capacity since it was Magdalen. My second choice took longer. I suspect if yours is taking now close to one month, you are probably accepted and they are mailing you the paperwork!

I think they used to have two or three, all from the 19th century, when women were first allowed to study at English universities. First I thought I would naturally want a co-ed school, but somehow the idea just grew on me, and now I really look forward to a VERY different and interesting year. Newnham has so-called "pudding seminars", where college members talk about their work and research. I hope to talk about my career as a research scientist and my current encounter with the business world.

Congrats annae! By the time I was applying, the famous old colleges were already full (and then I heard from some that even if they managed late admission into one of those, could not get accommodation.)
So instead of taking that risk, went for one of the newer ones: Green-Templeton, where I'll get plenty of peer-company!
With its own observatory, boat club and a well-equipped bar (not to mention, year round bops).. I'm excited to go there.

5 days before R3 results... good luck to applicants!

Hi All,

Today is the day when SBS round 3 results are out. Did any round 3 interviewees receive any communication yet ?

Cheers,

And I chose Cambridge over Oxford.
Hi I just got both Cambridge and Oxford. I now haved to decide between them. Its a tough decision. I was wondering what pushed you to Cambridge. I had made a list. What do you think.

Pros of Oxford:

1. Larger class size: This attracts more recruiters as it gives it a critical mass.
2. better career service: more orgainsed, much more money (endowment) than Cambridge
3. sector consultants: can use them at Oxford
4. official career treks: company treks to different parts of world. (not at Cambridge)
5. longer program till September as opposed to July (Cambridge). This gives more time to find a job.
6. more electives - Cambridge has lots of core courses.

Cons of Oxford:
1. newer program
2. class profile seems less strong than Cambridge
3. more stress of social entreprenaurship and starting you own business
4. no bank financing unlike Cambridge

Congratulations to all new admits! Well done! :-D Regarding JBS vs SBS, jhere are a few of my thoughts:

JBS extends until September, too, not July. Summer term allows lots of options, but the deadline for submission of your individual project (thesis?) is in August-September, as far as I've understood.

Cambridge core program includes a global consulting project, which to me sounds pretty much like the Oxford summer option "strategic consulting project". This project takes you all over the world, depending on which company you choose to work for.

For someone like me, with an academic background, core courses are a good thing. If you know the basics, you might benefit from more electives. For me, the health concentration option is an important focus point.

Regarding career service, why do you think the one in Oxford is better? Where did you find out about their funding? I would really like to hear more, since I haven't really paid much attention to any differences there.

My personal pros for Oxford were larger class size for better networking and course options, slightly higher ranking, cooperation together with the Institute for Science, Innovation, and Society. Cambridge had the health concentration, the science/medical sphere around the university, a smaller, perhaps more intimate class size, and a more appealing city and school atmosphere. As you can see, all these differences were minor and neither school stood out. The choice was difficult but I went with my gut feeling.
