Thank you very much Conrad, I appreciate the advice. I had not considered scholarship deadlines; that will be my new research project over the next few days.

I am registered for the MBA fair in San Francisco in September and definitely plan on visiting the Cambridge area. I look forward to meeting you then.

Depending on what makes more sense for you, you could also attend an information session that we will hold in the Bay Area (probably near Palo Alto) the week of the MBA fair in San Francisco. Currently, it is listed on our website as an info session in San Francisco, but we actually mean Palo Alto or somewhere in the Valley.

You could also drop me a private message with more details so I can look out for you at the MBA Fair.

Hi Conrad,

Does Cambridge encourage reapplicants? There isnt any specific information on reapplication.

Thanks.

That's a tricky question without knowing any specifics. Candidates are free to reapply (although we do not allow more than one application for the same admissions year) but they should have a clear idea how their new application is a significant improvement over their previous application. Areas of improvement could be a much stronger GMAT score, or a sterling accomplishment at work, a significant promotion, or even something as simple as better-written essays.

Hi CambridgeMBA,

When we talk about application deadlines, does that mean full application?
Specifically, what I mean by the above question is the following:
- Does the GMAT score have to be the Official GMAT score received by them from GMAC or the score we receive just after the test will be satisfactory?
- In case recommendation letters are to be filled online, does this mean that by the letters will be duly filled by the before the deadline?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

regards,
Jack

If I remember correctly, I could not send the online application before entering numeric values for GMAT. The recommendation letters will have to be filled online on a separate website, which will be sent to the recommender.

I guess you should contact the adcom directly to ask whether they are flexible in case of deadline problems.

Hello everyone!!

I am an applicant from India. I have done my entire schooling and undergraduate studies( engg) with English as the medium of instruction.
Do I qualify for English Ability test waiver?

I come from IT background, and would like to get an MBA to progress into a management (still in IT). But I'm a bit concerned that both schools seem to focus on finance and entrepreneurship.

Do you think they would fit my plans for an IT oriented career?

I like both schools because of the strong brand names and the short study period.

I think at least two of the three questions above could be best answered by adcom... why not ask them? :)

Hey guys,
If I attend an American liberal arts university outside the USA and all my classes are taught in English but I am not a native speaker, I won`t be required to take the TOEFL or IELTS, will I ?

Buttercup, you would qualify for the english ability test waiver. Just make sure your transcripts include a confirmation that english was the medium of instruction. I am a current admit at Said and will be starting this Oct.

How does Oxbridge compare to T16 US programs like Cornell or Yale in terms of chances of getting into IB in HK?
Does anyone have any idea?

MYCambridge,

Not sure about HK specifics, but I've had a very positive response from the IB firms that I've spoken to in the USA (before starting the program) about Oxford SBS. Here is a list of IBanks that had booths at our Finance Fair last October:

BA/Merrill, Barclays Capital, BNP ParisBas, Citi, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, Lazard, Lloyds, JP Morgan, Macquarie, Nomura, RBC Capital Markets, RBS, Standard Bank, Standard Chartered and UBS IB.

SEE MORE FAIRS INFO HERE
https://www.careers.ox.ac.uk/whats-on/ca ... in-oxford/

There were some notable holdouts last year, which I expect to be there (and hiring) this year, incl. Morgan Stanley. Long story short, Oxbridge is as good a place to land an IB job as any.

jon82,

Is the link for undergrad or mba students as well?

Also, how difficult it is to break into IB/MC without a summer internship?

MYcambridge,

Hmmm, yeah - the link seems to be for everyone (Oxford MBA and undergrad?). I got the list of IB recruiters from our intranet so, unfortunately, I don't have a better source at the moment. More if I find it/once the programme starts.

As for the internship, I would recommend doing one after your first year wherever you go. Again, I don't know too much about judge, but at SBS we now have the option of a summer internship instead of the strategic consulting project (or summer coursework). I'd guess that an internship would make the switch to IB/MC a lot easier.
