Anyone here got scholarship from Johnson, and chose to attend a different school instead in this year?
I have also received a scholarship but will be attending elsewhere.
Congratulations on so many offers! I would love to know which school you are going. I would also appreciate if you care to elaborate on why you are not choosing Johnson despite getting a scholarship.
Sure thing, and thank you - I will be attending Yale SOM. I started the application process knowing that I might have to pay the full cost of attendance, and still decided that doing so would be worth the money long term. Luckily I don't have or anticipate any other major expenses (e.g. healthcare, aging parents, etc.) that would make paying off loans afterwards a major problem. So while the money would be nice, it's not a deciding factor.
I'm picking Yale over Cornell because its reputation seems to be rising, which I hope will look good to recruiters in the short term, and because of the university's brand name, which I hope will pay off in the long term.
To be clear - I LOVED Cornell when I visited. The culture there was tight-knit, the second year students were incredibly invested in helping the first years through recruiting, and the vast majority of other prospective students seemed like genuinely fun people. Also should point out that I gathered this from overnight-ing with one of the students - not just from the AdCom. I would have no hesitation attending.
