Hi all, I'd like to confirm that |x-y| will always be greater than or equal to |x|-|y|.

Yes, |x-y|\(>=\)|x|-|y|...
If x and y are positive and x>y, BOTH will be equal.
Otherwise |x-y|>|x|-|y|
