According to Herbert Essame, Patton might have accomplished more had he not been held In check by his superiors, Alexander in the Mediterranean an isen ower n Europe.

(A) had he not been held in check by his superiors
(B) had his superiors not held him in check
(C) if his superiors had not held him in check
(D) if he was not held in check by his superiors
(E) when not held in check by his superiors

OA A

Underlined part in the question is wrong. Please see that option A includes "by" whereas underlined part does not do so.

We need "superiors" as close as possible to the "Alexander in the Mediterranean an isen ower n Europe" as the latter is modiffying the former. "Holding in check" precedes "accomplishment" and we need a past perfect tense to match "might have". Therefore IMO A

Hi guys,

I'd say C, however I miss a word between the end of each answer and "Alexander"

OA and Source?

Thanks

Same logic.

I chose A.
