Hi aalin,

I understand your perspective completely and still feel that you should aim at the top 10-20 programs. Remember, these top programs are not publishing such a narrow range, otherwise they would never accept any candidates  They publish an average range, which means that they have accepted/rejected at both extremes of the scale. On the contrary, think of it this way - will a higher GMAT score guarantee admissions even into the top 10 programs? The answer is no. I personally have read online postings of candidates being denied from Columbia, HBS, Stanford, Wharton with a 780 GMAT score. Do not underestimate your background but leave the decision to the schools. Please do not "opt-out" of your dream schools because you think you may not stand a chance.

Best,
Sue
