A. quasars are the most distant and luminous objects in the observed universe, appear -- This is a run-on sentence with two main verbs in the same sentence
B. quasars, the most distant and luminous objects in the observed universe, appear -- clear meaning, main subject Quasars, followed by appositive describing them (the most distant and luminous objects in the observed universe)
C. quasars, the most distant and luminous objects in the observed universe and which appear -- This doesn't have a working IC
D. the most distant and luminous objects in the observed universe, quasars appear -- subtle change in meaning, the main subject is no more Quasars, rather it is luminous objects. Hence B is a better choice
E. the most distant and luminous objects in the observed universe, quasars, which appear -- same error as C
