A few thoughts on your questions and more evilphilospher:
  1. The nature of your experience can be pretty useful to project some really interesting stories. You have not mentioned your post-MBA plans. If you can connect the dots well, this can be a big plus.
  2. Given your GPA, the GMAT is just about average. So if you think you can, a 20+ point jump can do wonders to your profile/chances.
  3. I would not recommend an MFin course at this point mainly because you will end up discounting your experience for something where future will still be uncertain.
  4. For reasons mentioned here, we do not provide gut-based school suggestions. That said, apart from the GMAT, there isn't a lot you can change assuming you are planning to apply this year. So I would recommend doing an excellent job on your application and playing your cards well (read apply to the right mix of schools)
