Hi there,
I would very much appreciate a profile evaluation and any advice on whether or not to retake the GMAT, thank you!
I am 28/f/Caucasian
Work Experience: 6+ years in digital industry for two large media companies in Canada. two promotions, I am at manager level but do not manage people
GMAT: 690 (44Q, 40V, 3 IR awaiting AWA score) . I had been getting around 720 in practice tests, do you recommend I retake?
Undergraduate: I did my undergrad in business, a top 20 school internationally (Canadian), that is top 20 not counting US schools. My average is not at a 4.0 scale as it is international (8.0 scale) but the equivalent would be around 3.0 to the american scale. I had a tough situation the first two years (with proof to substantiate), the last two years things improved and my GPA was more like 3.7
Extra curricular: I'm fairly involved in organizations in my industry, I am the chair of one group, I also do other (non industry related) pro bono work, some in leadership some just as team member/volunteer
Certifications: none
Target Schools: UCLA, NYU, USC Marshall
Application times: I plan to apply round 1 for both schools
Post MBA goal: continue working in my industry but hopefully in cities where the industry is most concentrated (in the U.S.)

Hello,
It’s great that you significantly upped your GPA the last 2 years. And your GMAT is not terrible by any means. Still, I think that a higher score would give you a much better shot at your target schools. Currently, I see NYU as a very highreach. With a better GMAT, that would come more into reasonable reach territory. And the other two would go from reasonable reaches closer to on-par.
So I suggest retaking IF you believe that with a reasonable effort you are very likely to score higher by 20+ points. If you’re doubtful about it, then better to use the current score and spend the time more productively elsewhere.

Could you please elaborate on what are the detractors in my profile besides the low GPA/gmat? I am wondering what is it about my profile that makes NYU a very high reach.
Does NYU particularly focus on undergraduate GPA vs. the other schools?
