I am glad to have found this thread. Could you please shed some light on my profile? I am currently making the list of my dream, realistic and safe schools?
Undergrad GPA: 1.78 (3.0 as pass, 1.0 as highest, 1.75 for CumLaude); Computer Science from the no. 1 university in the Philippines
Background: Filipina
Work Experience: 6 years with employers like Accenture; developed software for clients like Morgan Stanley, Shinsei Bank, National Grid UK; currently employed in Singapore as a Software Engineer; 1 year experience as Team Lead for a Software Dev effort for a Japanese Bank
Extra-Curricular: served as District Missionary and Ward Missionary in the Philippines for years; pianist; trained young men in our church to play piano when I was about to leave; Choir Leader and Organizer; Sunday School teacher for 3 years; Youth Leader for 1 year; organized a charity caroling for poor families in Philippines
GMAT: Still preparing, aiming for 700 :-S

Where do you want to live/work immediately after b-school? (i.e. not what you're planning to say in the essays, but what you really want to do in reality).

If you end up scoring 700+ on the GMAT, based on your profile, I would say you are a good candidate for pretty much all of the top schools. Which schools are your "dream, realistic, and safety schools"?
Let's say you score 700 on the GMAT then I would say:
Stretch schools: Any of the top 7 schools on US News ranking
Realistic Schools: probably 8-15 on US News rankings
Safety Schools: 16-20+ on US News rankings
You will need to do a lot of legwork to figure out which schools fit your career objectives and lifestyle (fit). I would pick 2-3 schools from each category and go for it!
