Hi,
Would really appreciate your thoughts on my odds at Harvard, Wharton, Stanford, MIT, Haas, Ross, and UT Austin McCombs.
- 29-year-old Indian-American male
- TBD GMAT (taking it in 2 weeks) - assuming I will get > 700
- 3.79 GPA from H/Y/P, double major in Economics and Political Science
- Worked for 6 years in Big 4 (PwC/Deloitte) strategy consulting group, focused mainly on healthcare innovation; 2 of those years were spent in a selective (10% admittance) internal digital health incubator as a product manager for health and wellness solutions
- Promoted to Senior Associate (entry level MBA position, frankly not uncommon at my firm)
Extracurriculars:
- Co-founded and chaired committee to train employees in developing habits that maximize productivity, well-being, and help them work in alignment with their values
- Selected for 2 years in a row to mentor junior consultants
- Outside my firm, lead / facilitate NYC chapter of national organization that brings in experts on behavior change to help people develop sustained habits
Goal: work in a product or strategy role at an innovative organization aimed at making people healthier or happier (health tech company or innovative healthcare provider system). (I'm also very interested in cleantech and sustainability, but have comparatively less experience in that, so won't be part of my story)

Thanks for sharing your background! We appreciate you reaching out. While it’s rather difficult to be specific about your chances at particular schools without a GMAT score, I can still provide a general assessment based on the information you provided.
Your undergraduate profile is rock solid. Do you have any involvement from back at your time in school? I know this was a while ago, but any extra-curriculars there show for a good leading indicator of the type of impact you could have at an MBA program. Your work-experience is great, and I’ll assume that you have many supporters there based on your promotion and tenure at the firm.
You have strong involvement as well which is a great way to set you apart from your applicant pool. As for your target schools, H/S/W and MIT are going to be on the stretch side, but with your profile, you should give a couple of them a shot. We would have specific recommendations after learning your GMAT score as well as learning a bit more about your goals. Haas is a great fit, so we’d recommend applying there while Ross and McCombs are aligned for your profile at the moment. Again, this is more rough guidance given that we don’t have a real GMAT score, but should be helpful nonetheless.

Thanks for the feedback! One more question for you: would it change things if I left my job mid-Oct and am currently between jobs? Someone else I asked said that in that scenario, the odds of my getting into a top-5 school (or any with <15% admittance rate) are vanishingly low, to the extent that I shouldn't bother applying to those schools. Realized I didn't clarify that in my original post...
