- M.S in Computer Science ( GPA 3.6 ) from a well known US university. Research assistant with full scholarship including registration fees.
Extra-Curricular/Community Service:
- Various positions since '94 at a non-profit organization based in India that provides relief packages to victims of earthquakes, floods and famine. Have managed to stay an active contributor while in the US.
- Trekking expedition leader for a environmental awareness assoc. in the lower Himalayas. This was for 3 years when I was an undergrad.
MBA short term goal:
Interested in management consulting for various sectors including but not limited to technology.
MBA long term goal:
Start my own consulting firm catering to Asian markets in areas such as infrastructure development.
Factors important to me...
- Looking to join a full-time program.
- School ranking and reputation.
- Well "networked" schools with good placement cells.
- Open to European schools but am concerned that a 1 yr program won't suffice for a career change.
- I would like to start B-school next fall ( '07).
- Looking to apply in R1 for all the schools that I finalize.

You have a good profile and strong numbers.
Your demographic(Indian, Comp. Eng., male) means you must stand out from the pack of other similar applicants with strong numbers. Frankly, nothing in what you told me made you seem more distinctive than other applicants from your demographic. Usually, distinctive stories and uniqueness factors can be found and emphasized, but based on what I know I will be conservative and suggest the following schools:
--MIT
--CMU
--Berkeley Haas
--UNC
--USC
--Michigan
--Texas
This is a provisional list and excludes safety schools.
