Hi Paul,
Thank you for your response! Here is some information about my current job/role. I am currently involved with a project for one of the leading auto manufacturer in LA area. I work in their ISD dept as a consultant. My role includes managing and executing IT projects for my clients Finance dept. I am leading a team of 12 people. I have gained good business knowledge of Finance operations after I came into this project. I was able to save thousands of dollars for our client by optimizing current process and introduce new technologies which will allow them to compete with other companies doing business in the same area. I am one of the key decision makers when it comes to purchasing softwares for our client. This gives me good exposure to dealing with external product vendors.
What GMAT score would you recommend for me to target for getting into one of these two schools? Would you recommend any other activities I should join or improve upon before the application process begins for Fall 2008?
Your feedback is highly appreciated!
Thanks,
Kiran
Kiran,
Well, a 740 or higher would certainly get their attention. Anything over 700 would help, however. Your community work seems to focus on work-related areas; this is not traditionally want schools expect when they think of community work, though it's hardly a "negative." I might encourage you to find some unusual community (as in social impact) organization that reflects your personal interests and then find a leadership role in it, e.g., leading people, sitting on the board etc. Your team leadership of 12 is impressive, even if it's only an informal management role.
Good luck,
