I would really appreciate anyone's advice on my situation:
I want to do a Full Time MBA from top tier school to make a career switch and want to devote 100% of my time to school. I am okay with loss of wages. I am planning on applying to B-School Fall 09. I wanted to get some input on my profile and what I can do over the next 8-10 months to make myself more attractive to schools.
Background: 25+ year old male from Indonesia, looking for a FT MBA from top-tier school
GMAT: 690, but I'm pretty sure can nail 750 within 3-4 months
Undergrad: Bachelor in Accountancy from top-tier Indonesian school, 4-years degree, 3.25 GPA
Goal: Career switch to IB (Lehman, GS, Merrill, etc.) or MC (Bain, McKinsey, etc.)
Work exp: Came from chemicals industries, will have 3 years at time of application
Also served as the board of directors of my family business (building & general contractors)
Extracurricular: Worked intensely on tsunami disaster relief, worked intensely on various projects across the camp
My target schools are Harvard, Stanford, and MIT. I admit may be a long shot. Also considering Wharton, Chicago GSB, UCLA, Haas, Michigan, Northwestern, Stern/NYU -- but not really sure. How competitive will I be at these top schools?
I'm going to start my own boutique consulting firm in my country 5-10 years down the line, so brand and school network is very very important.
Any weakness you see in my profile that I should address?
I would appreciate any advice from all end.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
