Gender: Male
Nationality: Indian
GMAT: 700
Education: I have a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from IIT Madras (GPA: 2.8) and a Masters in Petroleum Engineering from LSU (GPA: 4.0).
Work Experience: My analytical skills and affinity towards programming (have done a lot during my masters) made me move to IT. I have 4 years of experience in IT consulting (Bio Technology domain). I am currently leading a team of 10 members for a major initiative in a Bio tech firm. Started my career as a developer and currently working as an Architect (300% growth in salary).
Awards: An Award from Microsoft to our core development team (4 members including me) for an innovative solution provided.
Extracurricular Activities: Photography club president during my bachelors. I was responsible for covering all the cultural events during my tenure.
Honorary Member of National Society of Collegiate Scholars during masters. I was Involved in various campus activities for raising funds, community cleaning etc.
I can get very good recommendations from my professor in Masters (PhD from Stanford) and my current Manager (Director in my current company).
I am interested to know my chances in the following universities:
Yale
NYU
Chicago (Part Time)
UCLA

At age 27, you may not want to wait two years to apply. Your GMAT is good enough, though if you think can improve it doing so might help compensate further for the 2.8 GPA (unless that's considered a good GPA at IIT Madras). Your leadership at work helps you, but given the large numbers of applicants with roughly similar profiles, you may want to seek out more leadership roles at work, and especially outside of work, to have a chance at Chicago, NYU, Yale and UCLA. Your odds at UCLA and Yale are somewhat better IMO than at Chicago and NYU. USC should be doable.
