Hi Paul,
Would you please let me know what you think of my profile?
I'm a 26 yr old Chinese American male with 4 years of work experience in early and mid-stage e-commerce startups. I am currently a Marketing Manager with one direct report and three more on the way. My CEO and COO already know of my MBA aspirations and they're both on board to help me succeed - both are Harvard MBA alums for whom I have a ton of respect and admiration. I plan to apply this year and matriculate next fall (2009).
I've taken the GMAT twice. The first time I got 710 (47Q, 40V). The second time (and last time) I got 720 (44Q, 46V). I am wondering if the adcoms will see my 47Q score from the first test if I officially use my 720 - would want them to know that I can do better than a 44Q.
I have a 3.6 GPA from UCLA. I was a Communication Studies Major there. Was not involved in campus activities other than a Christian fellowship and some intramural sports teams. Worked part-time through most of college.
As far as extracurriculars, I'm not currently in any formal organizations, but I pursue a lot of hobbies such as hiking/camping, basketball, travel, investing. I'm an Eagle Scout, so I've done quite a bit for the community, albeit it earlier in life. I think extracurriculars are an area I could definitely improve. Could definitely use a tip here. Would joining an entrepreneur social org of some kind help at all? Do I need to have a leadership in a club or group?
Also, I've started my own fledgling e-commerce site on my spare time. The site is hardly generating revenues, but perhaps it has some value in that it shows I'm willing to try my hand in entrepreneurship. In fact, I am thinking of leveraging my startup experience to play an entrepreneurship angle.
The schools I'm targeting are U of Chicago GSB, Berkeley, UCLA, NYU, & maybe Stanford.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts you might have for me!
James
