Hi guys,
I came across this website and although it seems to be geared primarily towards MBA students, perhaps someone might be able to help out this prospective MS in Finance student.
I'm a recent college graduate from a large US public university, with a BBA in Finance. Undergrad g.p.a : 3.67. I took numerous advanced Mathematics and Economics courses to supplement my core Finance curriculum. I have about 2 years of internship experience as an undergraduate student at an asset management firm in New York. I speak English, French, and Hindi fluently and am currently learning German. Gave the GMAT a few weeks ago and scored 740 (97 percentile...q49,v41, a.w.a: 4.5 ). To put my g.p.a in perspective, I graduated with a 160 credits in 4.5 years ( while the requirement for graduation was 124). My grades in a few classes suffered, as I was devoting considerable time during the week for the last two years of my undergraduate studies towards my internship (20-25 hours a week during the regular semester). I've recently started volunteering at an NGO that works towards education and protection of poor children. I will continue volunteering till I have to leave India to start graduate studies.
Here are the schools I'm considering:
MS Finance at LSE
MS Finance at Imperial College London
MS Finance at HEC Paris
MS Financial Economics at Oxford
MS Finance at Princeton
The last two will be a real reach but maybe my GMAT score might give me a fighting chance.
I wanted to know
1) Will me volunteering ( in a teaching capacity) at an NGO carry a lot of weight of in my application/resume?
2) Would anyone know whether my profile would be a good fit in these selected programs? Do I have a shot at any of them?
I greatly appreciate any feedback!
