Hi AsifBD,
Thanks for your message. I reviewed your profile similar to other candidates' profiles when I worked as part of a top tier program's admissions committee.
Based on your background, I would look into programs such as Stern, Ross, Fuqua, Kellogg, and Columbia, in addition to other top 10-15 programs. Here are my reasons for sharing this.
Your GPA of 3.86/4 from a top-tier institution will further strengthen your profile. I congratulate you on this, as it is not an easy task to achieve this GPA during one of the most challenging times in any student's life - in the midst of the transition from a teenager to a young adult. Having worked with many candidates over the past 6 years, I observe that this is the number one challenge. However, your personal discipline managed it beautifully.
Also, I commend you on your experience in the Private Equity industry prior to your MBA. It is not an easy path to choose after college and more importantly, not easy to be sustainable in this highly competitive industry. I think this achievement will balance well with your extracurricular and other personal accolades. Not to mention, your non-traditional personal background shares a "uniqueness" over your competition if communicated effectively across your applications.
My only slight concern is your GMAT score of 660, which may/may not be balanced by your GPA. However, since the GMAT is only one of six components that you will be evaluated on, it is by no means a "deal-breaker". You have to make sure that the other aspects to your applications are produced with unwavering quality. However, you will just need to effectively communicate your personal and professional background, along with your aspirations for business school. Make sure that the other aspects to your applications are produced with unwavering quality. I have read many online posts from candidates with similar backgrounds who were rejected from their dream schools, not due to a gap in their background but due to an inability to effectively share their background and aspirations for an MBA.
I hope this helps you. If you would like to further speak directly with our consultants who are former admissions committee members or our recent admits at any point, please visit
