Thanks for your comment, I do realize that my verbal is quite low. I have been studying only verbal for like 5 months with the last 2 mostly at this forum combining with SC1000. Eventually I've been able to push the V part to mid 30s steadily but don't know what went wrong during the real exam though. But anyway, I originally planned to apply for Y08 and I think there's not enough time to retake GMAT so I'm now trying to decide if I should try my luck or wait till Y09..

Others are very welcome to comment or suggest too, I would be more than glad to have lots of views..thanks

Hi oakay:

I'm not Paul but just my thoughts: I think the fact that you are Thai is an asset because business schools are always looking to improve the diversity of their class. The failed JVC (joint venture?) could provide useful material for your admissions essays, especially if they ask you to describe a past failure and what you learned from it. Finally, you didn't mention any community involvement. B-schools (esp. the top 20) are on the lookout for this component, so if you have any volunteer leadership experience don't forget to include it in your essays & resume. Hope this helps..

oakay,

I agree with both the GMAT Clubbers who replied to you: your GMAT is a major impediment for admission to a top 20 school and your Thai background is a big asset. Your big asset does not compensate for your big liability, however. Luckily for you you are still quite young so you have time to beef up that GMAT score while you are also strengthening the professional and community side. Yes, community is important for U.S. schools so you need to show some leadership there as well. I do think you have the makings for an excellent, unusual profile if you can do these things. Then you will be able to aim top 20 and perhaps top 10.

Good luck,

Thanks for the advice and suggestions! Who you guys said are also the same as what're on my mind, I'm just in the low motivation mode right now because my high input on verbal produced zero output and I don't know if I can manage to lift it up any higher since my time is also very limited if I wanna apply for fall 08. Maybe I'll just try my luck first and if it doesn't work, I'll give GMAT another shot next year. I am still young after all!!

Thanks again and if I get applied into any, I'll come back and post again!

Hey Paul,

Like promised, I'm back here to post my results. I got admitted to UNC, Kelley, and invited for a telephone interview with Simon (but I think I will just drop it and go with UNC). I'm getting ready to be a Tar-heels!
