My profile:
Male 26 y.o. - Uzbekistan, Tashkent
GPA: 4 (I suppose, I received a first class honors degree in Banking and Finance from Bangor University at a campus in Tashkent)
GMAT: 680-720 (on average) plan to take it this Months to apply for the second round.
WE: after working there for about two years while I was still a student I was promoted to the position of an Executive Director at a consulting and trainning school with a focus on IELTS (personal score 8.0, 2012) - WE in the position will be two years by the time I get into school (hopefully)
*** I have done a whole gamut of jobs ranging from cooking to sales for varying periods of time but primarily have been busy with Teaching English and Instructing students on IELTS. I have had to teach English as it provided the most flexibility for me to be able to study and work.
I was a Leader of Student Council at my University and in addition to this chaired the education sector where we accomplished a lot of things (Leader-Material).
I was the captain of Debate team, innitiated the drama club and many other things.
Speak: Uzbek, Russian, English, Spanish (intermediate)
As for my age, I entered University two years later than I was supposed to on account of the fact that I entered only to "Contract" basis and wasnt able to pay for my education, preppared for two years and finally won a grant. The situation is similar now, I will not be able to pay for my education but nonetheless want to get into a good school hoping to make up for my shortcomings with my academics, I have been preparing for GMAT for almost half a year, clearly, not as properly as I could. I started with a very weak quant, and only recently started paying attention to the verbal part - huge mistake.
As for my MBA goals I do have a clear set of goals but what I wanted to know was which top 30 universities would offer full scholarships to students with my profile? given that people from my country are underrepresented and hoping to land a scholarship for students from developing countries.
Thank you a lot!
*NB I need to enter in Fall 2018
As far as I know, most of the B-schools (top 30 in US) have students carrying 4-6 years work-ex on an average. And considering your profile, you are falling short on the work-ex.
However, this is NOT a reason for denying admission and if you can compensate for the years by showing something exemplary in your application essays (say extraordinary growth in profession, a high flying start-up, a national level award or something that truly sets you apart from the competition).
I would also suggest you to target 740+ in your GMAT as your competitive applicant pool may have a good GMAT and an outstanding profile. Ensure you have done well at work - won a few awards, been promoted fast, handled responsibility, led teams as Bschools look for well rounded candidates.
What you need to illustrate in the application is: What initiatives you have taken to make the difference in the company/client you have worked for. You can strengthen your profile by adding to your extra-curricular activities as also projecting yourself as a strategic and analytical thinker.
Hope this helps!
