I started preparing for the GMAT around 2 weeks ago. I was able to finish the Princeton Review and will be moving on to do the Math workbook this week. I took a couple of practice tests and they boosted my self esteem only because I was so adamant I would score poorly but I didn't. I am not going to translate this self esteem into over confidence.

1. I did not panic like I would on the real thing
2. My verbal skills have not improved much after finishing the princeton review and I already accepted it.

I am planning on finishing my prep in the next month. In fact, I am rushing to take the test before the format changes in June '12.

My question is do I really need to worry about the change in the essay section of the GMAT?

Hi Thuy, I would recommend buying MGMAT SC book and PowerScore CR and work through those. You'll be a lot faster in those question types once you've work through the books. I wouldn't waste time practising RC questions, it's the hardest to improve in a short period of time. The trick to do well on the RC is to read slowly and digest all the given information, the best way to do that is to build up buffer time in the SC and CR question types.

I would second deadly cat's recommendations for MGMAT SC and PowerScore CR and would add RC 99 (apparently no longer available though...). Although I don't have experience with these yet, they were suggested me when I asked for advice for the best material for the verbal section.

The way I see it you got 3 problems
1. You are relying on wrong material. Remedy- buy og12 and mgmat 8strategy guide and go through them thoroughly taking one section at a time
2. Your verbal is weak Remedy go for e-gmat verbal live course excellent teaching and value for money with. 5 point verbal score jump guarantee
3. Your maths lacks some basic fundas Remedy mgmat 8 strat guided and a lot of practicem

Apart from all above do atleast 10 ps and 10 ds problems every day. And go through solutions carefully.
Read in btg forum how to approach each different type of problem.
Do these religiously and you will see your score increasing
Anything else don't hesitate to pm me
Best of luck

I think I have calmed down after reading other similar posts. April test takers, let's get ready.

This is the right attitude to take. Good luck in April!
