Hello and Greetings,
I am Sujitkumar Zine.Indian,34 years old.
Education: B.E. with First class (65.5%) and Specialized Post graduate diploma in Thermal Power plant Engineering with Distinction (78%)
Work Experience:11 years. (7 years in India / 4 Years in China)
7 years with Reliance Energy, 1 Year with Adani Power,China , 6 months with Honeywell Inc. and 3 years with Lanco International,Singapore/China
Started as a Management Trainee with Reliance Energy off campus placement. Got promoted since Engineer/Senior Engineer/Additional Manager/Deputy Manager/Manager/Senior manager/ presently Assistant General Manger (Middle Management).
Have worked will top 3 Private Power companies of India with EPC background. Was involved with supercritical technology based LSTK thermal power project contracts of Multi billion USD size.
Complete exposure to Concept to Completion of EPC LSTK Multi Billion USD expenditure Power projects with all facets of project planning / scheduling / enggineering / procurement / manufacturing / logistics / erection / testing / commissioning / project management / contracts / commercial.
Presently responsible for project management and manufacturing management of 6 units of 660 MW and 2 units of 600 MW and 2 units of 300 MW with a team of PM and QA & I managers in China.
However my passion has always being finance and especial interest in capital markets and various facets of capital market participation and opportunities.
To suppliment my passion i am planning to do MBA from premier school with specialization in finance.I am yet to take GMAT but my prep-GMAT test scores are in range of 620 +
Kindly advise what are my chances of getting into top 10 / 15 business schools.

Hi Sujit,
You have a decent profile. Even though you belong to a competitive applicant pool (Indian, Male,) the good news is it is not the most competent because you are not IT professional.
Academic Capacity: GMAT Score :Your GPA seems to be good, but if you are aiming for the top 15, you will have to aim for 720+ GMAT score ( not 620+) to prove your academic capacity.
Work Experience: Excellent. You have more work experience than most US B-schools look for in their prospective students ( 4-5 years). However, I do believe that with 11 years of work experience, you may benefit more from EMBA where you will interact with experienced professionals like yourself.
You also demonstrate constant career progression. 7 promotions in 11 years confirm a significantly progressive career graph. I understand that with your varied professional experience, you must have held some leadership roles as well , and those leadership stories, if narrated effectively, will sure strengthen your profile.
International Experience: You have 3 years of international experience which is good.
Why MBA? Your Goal: You have stated :“ However my passion has always being finance and special interest in capital markets and various facets of capital market participation and opportunities. To supplement my passion I am planning to do MBA from premier school with specialization in finance.”
This is the area you need to be extremely articulate about . That is, if you are saying you have always been passionate about finance, you will need to demonstrate how you have pursued it so far in your career, what are your future goals and how you think your past experience, and a MBA from a specific school with a specialization in finance will help you fulfill your career goals. B-schools want people who have a clear idea of what they are doing and who can prove that they will be successful business leaders one day.
