Hi,

GMAT score : 730 (Q-49, V-38) Percentile -90 ( AWA 4.0 and IR score 8.0)
Work Exp:
- Working as a Research Assistant -II/lab manager at Vanderbilt University school of medicine since Dec 2011
- Worked as a research specialist for 2 years part time at university of minnesota (uofm) (One research publication in an international journal)
- Worked as a TA for two semesters at uofm
- Worked for a year as Research Associate (Intellectual Property consulting) at Gurgaon, India.

Education:
- MS in Biosystems Engg from uofm
- BE in Biotechnology from Panjab University, Chandigarh.

I am really confused about what tier schools to apply for a full time MBA. I want to learn more about management basics for starting up a company having worked on product development for a company during my masters degree and now working on drug discovery having applications in cancer research.

You might want to consider CMU Tepper or Rochester Simon. (I'm assuming you have good grades) You don't have that much full-time work experience and these schools are a little more open to less experienced applicants.

Have you consider the University of Michigan's MS in Entrepreneurship?

Best,
linda

Hi Linda,

Thanks for taking the time out to review my profile. I have a GPA of 3.9 in my undergrad and 3.8 in my masters degree. I will have a total full time experience of 2 years and 9 months at the time of matriculation. But, I also wanted to underline that I will have strong recommendations from my supervisors at vanderbilt university.

I was hoping to get more of a holistic view of management instead of just going for an entrepreneurship degree. Would it be realistic to target bottom of tier 1 and top of tier II with my profile? Also, can you suggest some schools that would be better for me considering my life sciences background?

Thanks and regards,
Amit

Amit,

OK. Makes sense.

Again, I suggest you consider CMU Tepper. Also check out UCLA Anderson, Cornell Johnson, and Duke Fuqua. Stanford would be a great fit, but it's very hard to get into and again, I'm not sure your work experience is going to be that competitive; it's worth a try.

Best,
Linda
