Explain how you will contribute both as a student and subsequently as an alum to the Katz Graduate School of Business community.
What importance do you place on this contribution and what qualities do you possess that will make you effective in these roles? I don't understand the bold part. Please clarify and suggest how to answer it?
Thanks.
PS: Thanks braindancer.
Seth,
It's a lamely worded question, but they are just trying to make sure you not only tell what you'll bring to their school, but "why," that is, what motivates you. If you are going to be a big sportsman on campus, then say what form it will take (water polo? etc.) and how sports is a big deal in your life. What are the qualities that make you a great sportsman? For example, teamwork, leadership ability, competitiveness, love of fun. If you will be Joe Wine Club then why is the grape important to you, and what qualities does it reflect in you (good taste, sociability, patience, discrimination). One other note, the reference to "alum" in the question means they like people who can make a good case that they will, ahem, contribute long after the MBA. This is a golden question for anyone who can show a track record of having been involved as an alumni in his previous schools.
Good luck,
