Hello,
I need a little advice. Any helpful opinions are appreciated.
To start off, ethnic background is indian male who emigrated to the states at the age of 8.
I am currently an Air Force Officer with approximately 6 years of experience and plan on transitioning to the civilian world in the next 15 months. I aspire to attend a top MBA program (Darden, Duke, Cornell, and Upenn if gmat is high enough), but I have a low undergraduate GPA from a good business undergrad program. (Miami of Ohio..solid school but not top) My freshman year, lack of maturity, coupled with no time management skills cost me dearly and I ended up with an overall 2.7 GPA by the time I graduated. I showed significant improvement from my sophomore to senior years, but the damage was already done. (My GPA for the major was 3.4, if they look at that) Ok…long story short…here is my current standing
-Haven’t taken GMAT yet…devoting 3 months of prep time and hope to score 650 above…hopefully towards 700.
- 6 yrs work experience in AF, have been responsible for millions of dollars in assets, have had 3 to 40 subordinates depending on job and year, been deployed to the middle east, South Korea, Europe etc…and might be going to Iraq this summer hopefully as a flight commander (basically lots of responsibility and experience supervising)
- I also have a masters degree (general management and leadership) from a university that focuses on adult education (Webster), graduated w/ 4.0 GPA...I know it doesn’t have a name but I did significantly better in the graduate program which I am hoping makes up for my undergrad GPA
My Question is…is there any remote chance I am competitive for acceptance (I know I need a high GMAT, if so what should my target be)? I am hoping my masters GPA will make up for the undergrad. Any opinions would be appreciated.
Looking to get into consulting after the MBA.uld be appreciated.
