Hi Linda,
Thanks for offering your valuable advice to all of us.
Pls suggest realistic list of target schools for my profile.
Male/30/Indian citizen/US permanent resident
GMAT: 710 94% (Q50 95% V 36 81%)
GPA: 3.6/4.0 from a top 10 Engineering school in India (non IIT B.Tech)
Work Experience: 8 years in IT, mostly as an Engineer/programmer.
Currently a technical lead in a small software company in silicon valley (since last 5 years) working with offshore engineering team. Although, I did not have any official managerial/leadership position, I had some leadership experiece (project management) and numerous oppurtunities to help customers working with other teams (good team work story?).
Recommendation: I can get good recco from my current manager and a director in my company.
Extra Curriculars: Actively Involved with a social service based in India and ran occasional marathons here. Also running a small investment club with few friends (don't know if it counts). Was president of a club in undergrad and raised funds by organising a few events (its been a while!).
Target Job Profile: Marketing/Business Developement of enterprise software
Dream school: Kellogg
I understand that I come from a very competitive pool of candidates and have contemplated taking GMAT again. I'm fairly confident I can raise my score, although I'm not sure if its worth the time. Does my permanent resident status helps me in any way?
Pls help me come up with a realistic list of schools and any other suggestion you can think of to improve my chances. Yes, getting your help in polishing my essays is on the cards.
Thanks a bunch
