Two ants start moving simultaneously from two different corners on a cube point A and point B. The first ant moves up along the edge from point A, and the other ant moves back along the edge from point B, as shown in the figure. If both move at a speed of 2 inches per second, what is the straight-line distance between the two ants after 10 seconds?
(1) The volume of the cube is 27 cubic feet.
(2) The vertical distance between the two ants after 5 seconds is 10 inches.

You are given the path and the speed of the two ants.
This means you do need the dimensions of the cube or the length of a single side to determine the distance between the ants.
Statement 1 gives you the dimensions of the entire cube, with the respective formulas you could now determien the distance between the ants.
However, at this point you could already stop as you have enough information to conclude that statement A is sufficient.
Statement 2 only gives you the vertical distances between the two ants, however unless you also know the horizontal distance you are not able to calculate the straight line distance.
Hence this statement does not provide information on its own to solve the question.
Due to statement 1 beeing sufficient on its own the correct answer is A.

In the figure we can find x and substitute it to find y(refer attachment).So stat 1 is sufficient.
From statement 2 we cannot coclude in which direction the ants moved over time as we dont know exact dimentions of the cube hence not sufficient.
Hence A is the correct choice.
Hope its clear.
