Hi, I Accidently ruled out 'A' because the semicolon. The reason was that the word 'For' followed it and since it's one of the FANBOYS words I thought it would be a mistake to seperate the two caluses by a semicolon.
Can someone please explain when a FANBOYS word eliminate the semicolon and whether it is neccesery for the grammatic correctness of the sentence?

For can be used in many, many ways as a preposition. However, it is one of the "FANBOYS" only when it means "because" (because, however, is not one of the "FANBOYS").
She refused to accept defeat, for she knew that she could do better. ← This sentence is fine (the for means because).
She refused to accept defeat; for she knew that she could do better. ← Here we don't need a semicolon and a for. This construction therefore introduces redundancy.
For instance, on the other hand, is just a phrase that is used to introduce examples. It is not a conjunction.

I didn't get why A is correct
Semi colon is used to join two I.C but after semi colon it's given an example so it isn't acting as dependent clause by giving examlle of previous clause
