Five different balls are to be distributed in 2 different boxes, red and blue. If each box needs to contain at least one ball, what is the total number of ways of distribution?
My thought is there are 4 ways to distribute Red:Blue
1:4 -> 5 ways
2:3 -> choose 2 from 5 -> 10 ways
3:2 -> 10 ways
1:4 -> 5 ways
So total 30 ways

Yea makes sense. Also if you think from the negated space pov, the answer matches.
At least 1 ball means total cases - cases where either of them has 0 balls.
So of first one has 0 balls, 2nd one will have 5 balls that is one case and second case when the 2nd box has 0 balls. So 2^5-2

If I am not wrong, it was stated that GMAT Mocks for Quant is meant to be tougher

Though I haven’t yet taken my GMAT, I don’t think that GMAT mocks quant are less tough than the actual GMAT, if anything, while taking first 4 mocks I felt they are were much easier than what might actually be there in GMAT. Also I felt once I made mistakes on one type of question let’s say probability I saw few extra questions from probability. That’s probably the algorithm seeing that I am weak at one perticular topic and throwing more questions of that type towards me. So it’s best to make yourself stronger on all topics. It can’t be that you leave out "properties of numbers" or "work problems" or "probability" and score good on GMAT.

From my recent real time experience, I do strongly feel that Official mocks are way much easier than real GMAT. But GMAT-Club tests I feel are almost at the same difficulty level as real GMAT. I think GMAT Official mocks are really outdated.

Hi, is there a difference between the Kaplan source and the Manhattan Prep source in the bookmarks? Given that they are from the same company. Also, quality wise?

Want to do additional topical practice.

Before being simplified, the instructions for computing income tax in Country R were to add 2 percent of one’s annual income to the average (arithmetic mean) of 100 units of Country R’s currency and 1 percent of one’s annual income. Which of the following represents the simplified formula for computing the income tax, in Country R’s currency, for a person in that country whose annual income is I ?

Option 1- 50 + I/200
Option 2- 50+ 3I/100
Option 3- 50 + I/40
Option 4 - 100+ I/50
Option 5- 100+3I/100

What’s the solution to this?

Sorry posted double accidentally

How can we find remainder from statement 1? Can we form some kind of mathematical equation in form of x=6k +r?

Statement 1 tells x is a multiple of 3 and odd. So, x= 3,9,15 etc. Whenever you divide it by 6, you’ll get 3 as remainder.
