in this question ans is A but how do we know exact x with just A like we x is less than 5.5 but not the exact. Q=
If x is a positive integer, is x<16?

(1) x is less than the average (arithmetic mean) of the first ten positive integers
(2) x is the square of an integer.

Oh sorry read it wrong
Discussed here: https://gmatclub.com/forum/if-x-is-a-po ... 11773.html

P.S. Pure algebraic questions are no longer a part of the DS syllabus of the GMAT.

DS questions in GMAT Focus encompass various types of word problems, such as:
  • Word Problems
  • Work Problems
  • Distance Problems
  • Mixture Problems
  • Percent and Interest Problems
  • Overlapping Sets Problems
  • Statistics Problems
  • Combination and Probability Problems

While these questions may involve or necessitate knowledge of algebra, arithmetic, inequalities, etc., they will always be presented in the form of word problems. You won’t encounter pure "algebra" questions like, "Is x > y?" or "A positive integer n has two prime factors..."

Check GMAT Syllabus for Focus Edition

You can also visit the Data Sufficiency forum and filter questions by OG 2024-2025, GMAT Prep (Focus), and Data Insights Review 2024-2025 sources to see the types of questions currently tested on the GMAT.

So, you can ignore this and similar questions.

Hope it helps.

By what fraction did the price of the stock increase yesterday?
This would be (new-old)/old without the multiplication of 100, right?
if we multiply by 100 its percent increase?

Yes. You just do change is what part of the value that increased.

0.35 + a + b + C + D /5 = 0.5
a=b=c=d is a possibility
if that the case

0.35 + + 4*0.8 /5 > 0.5

Answer is E

0.35 + S2 + S3 + S4 + S5 = 2.5 gms

Assuming S5 heaviest wt and S1 lightest wt ( given 0.35 grams)

then S2 + S3 + S4 = 2.5 - 0.35 - S5

S2 + S3 + S4 = 2.15 - S5

now plug in the values of every wt given in options for the heaviest wt

every option is a possibility, so answer should be E

Is the answer E though?

and it’s better to start with the greatest or smallest value in the options

Jan 1 20000 deposited

interest per day 4/365 /100 = 1/90*100

interest earned by Jan 10 -- 20000 * 10 * 1/90*100 = ~20

Interest earned by feb 10th -- 19020 * 30 * 1/90*100= ~ 63.4

Interest earned by Mar 10th -- 18083.4 * 30 * 1/90*100= ~ 60

April 10 -- 17123 *30/90*100 = 57.07

May 10 = 16180 *30 * 1/90*100 = ~ 54

June 10 = 15234 * 30 * 1/ 90 *100 = ~50

20 +63+60+57+54+50 = ~294

She deposited $20000
withdrew $1000 on every 10th of every month from January till May

on 6th June she closed

therefore amount left = $20000 - $5000 = $15000

SI = PRT / 100 = (15000 * 4 * (5/12) ) / 100

Would it not be $300? 15,000 x 0.04/2 = 300
