Hi
Mallika18Thank you for sharing these details! The schools that you listed here do seem like reasonable target programs. Here's why: we advise clients from overrepresented groups to aim for 20-30+ points over the program's GMAT average. I believe Haas is the only program where that is not the case for you, and would be your reach school. Your work experience is going to be on the lower end when applying that can put you at a disadvantage over other applicants in the pool, but there are definitely ways to mitigate this in your application/essays to help you stand out, or you could wait an extra year before applying which would make you a bit more competitive for admission. Scholarships are typically based on GMAT/GPAs so retaking the GMAT could help increase your chances of a scholarship. Your post-mba goals seem practical given your experience.
To strengthen your profile, I would consider enhancing your extracurricular profile. Are you involved in any volunteer work?
Feel free to send a note to
scott@personalmbacoach.com to further discuss your school selection and application strategy. We regularly work with folks in India for these schools and can certainly help here!

I'm asking an eval to see my suitability for the following MBAs : UCLA 2 year full time/ NYU Stern tech MBA 1 year/ Haas 2 year MBA/ Cornell 1 year tech MBA
I mention these MBAs in particular since they are good for tech career goals.
Also let me know if applying to Ivy MBAs as a reach would be worth the effort.
Background and nationality - Indian. Age 23.
Undergrad Information - Econ Major from St Xavier's College, Mumbai University; CGPA - 3.45
GMAT- 740; V44 Q47
Work experience and leadership - 2.2 years full time work ex. I have 7 months experience in product marketing at a small home automation/security business and 1.7 years experience as a product analyst for an OTT platform in a big tech company (Jio) that required me to perform many product management duties as well (Platform ownership, sprint planning, project management)
I have additional 6 months work ex being an editor (not a full time role) and some months experience participating in organizing a college festival but doubt that would be relevant.
Post MBA goals - I would like build on my current foundation to pursue product management in the consumer internet industry
Anything else?
I am currently also doing a 7 month Post grad certificate in product management in India and learning the basics of Python (as part of the course)
My primary concern is if my work experience and the quality of it would be a deal breaker for an MBA - and if not- if I would have limited scholarship opportunity because of it
